Internet Explorer (IE) Mode in Edge

Summary

Now you can browse as you normally would. To leave Internet Explorer mode, close the tab or click the “Leave IE mode” icon in the toolbar if you added it in the step above.

Overview

Microsoft Edge with Internet Explorer mode will replace the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app, which will be retired on June 15, 2022. Internet Explorer mode lets you keep using your IE-based sites and apps even after Internet Explorer 11 retires.

Ellipsis = A button that indicates that several tasks are available for a particular item. 

Instructions

Launch Microsoft Edge browser to enable the IE mode

  1. Click the Settings and More (ellipsis) button on the top-right corner

  2. Select the Settings option

  3. Click on Default browser tab

  4. Under the “Internet Explorer compatibility” section, Alow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) by choosing "Allow" from the drop down

  5. Click the Restart button

Add the IE mode button to the toolbar

  1. Click the Settings and More (ellipsis) button on the top-right corner
  2. Select the Settings option

  3. Click the Appearance tab

  4. Under “Select which buttons to display on the toolbar” section, toggle the Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) button option to On

Activate IE mode

  1. Select the Reload Tab in Internet Explorer mode icon

  2. Toggle the “Open this page in Internet Explorer mode next time” button option On

  3. Click Done
