Windows 11 uses the Snipping Tool by default when performing Print Screens. This will change the default to use Snagit instead.
Detailed Steps:
- 1. Disable Snipping Tool:
- Go to Windows Settings (Win+I).
- Search for "Accessibility keyboard settings".
- Find the "Use the Print screen key to open screen capture" option and toggle it off.
- 2. Enable Snagit Hotkey Override:
- Open Snagit and go to File > Capture Preferences > Hotkeys.
- Check the box next to "Allow Snagit to override other hotkey assignments".
- Click OK.
- 3. Configure Snagit for Print Screen Capture:
- In the Snagit Capture Window, click the text under the red Capture button (this is the Global Hotkey).
- Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard to assign it as the hotkey.
- You can further customize Snagit's capture settings (like image, video, or panoramic) under the "Capture Window" settings.
Important Notes:
- Snagit must be open: for the Print Screen key to function as a Snagit capture shortcut.
- You may need to restart Snagit: after making these changes.
- To ensure Snagit starts automatically, go to File > Capture Preferences and under the General tab, make sure "Run Snagit when Windows starts" is checked
