Overview

Hach WIMS uses a LIMS interface tool to import lab data into the databases. This documents outlines the steps to configure this tool. Only users that import lab data into WIMS need to have this tool configured.

Instructions

  1. Use Hach program Q12351 (free generic import utility) for lab imports of a .CSV file. No license is needed for this interface tool.
  2. Currently, users run this tool manually. However, to run the interface automatically, at a specified frequency, a computer with this utility configured will always need to be on.
  3. User should have a file and shortcut designated for lab import documents - C:\LIMS CSV Files.

  1. The LIMS Interface Utility is found in the user's C:\HachWIMS\Client\utility\Q12351.
    • Navigate to utility and open it
    • Select Configuration from the menu. Configure these menu items:
      • Connection to Hach WIMS
      • Collector Configuration
      • Source Configuration
    • Save each configuration

  • Settings for Connection to Hach WIMS. Test Connection before saving.
    • Data Source = GYDMZHW\OPSSQL
    • Database Type = Microsoft SQL Server
    • OLE DB Provider = MSOLEDBSQL.1

  • Select Outside Lab CSV from drop-down menu for Collector Configuration

  • Select Source Configuration from the configuration menu and edit two tabs
    • Source File Configuration
    • Column Mappings - there may be different mappings depending on the type of data and which Contract Lab performed the analysis. Change mappings as needed.

 

  • Save settings and close screens
